www.snowfish.com

Our new social media website, Snowfish, is now up and running and open to the masses! A very exciting time, with a lot of work to be done every second!! It's a great adventure, and I am loving every bit of the process and the team I am a part of.

I'd rather be snowfishing...

Winter sunset

Sometimes we have the most beautiful sunsets over the woods behind our back field. Usually they are spectacular in the summer, but tonight was pretty darn nice too...

Vacation

A week in the Dominican Republic...nice.

The trip down was less than ideal: 3 am wake up, hour to Albany, connection to Newark, 4 hour flight to the DR where the Puerto Plata airport was closed, diverted to Santo Domingo after on hour of circling, then 8 hours wait, then 5 hour bus ride to villa!  The fam had a great laugh when we finally put our heads on our pillows and, as if on cue, a rooster began to crow from somewhere behind our place.

Gloria, Austin, and I travelled with our great friends Kelly and Chris and their two kids Grace and Nick, and their friend Ann (who watches their kids on occasion).   We stayed in an amazingly nice villa on the ocean in Puerto Plata with a private pool, chef, and all the stuff you could ask for on a tropical island vaca!  Thank You Kelly!

I'm a big skier, so mind you I love the winters in Upstate NY, especially since we have season passes this year and tons of the white stuff....but I must admit the warmth and sun did my soul good and erased any sign of  winter doldrums that may been sneaking up on us this year!  Loads of down time, horses, dolphins, tennis matches, good local rum, great cigars, sunshine, water, happy kids, great friends, lots of laughs, ahhhhh.

Closing Camp

34 years ago my family started spending summers in a cottage on a lake in Northern NY.  The end of summer was always marked by the closing of camp.  It has been a while since I have participated, or even have been able to spend time at this place, but this weekend my son and I joined my parents in the ritual.  I would say between the closing of camp, the leaves already turning, the low 50 degree temps we experienced, and the fact that I had to get Austin home early tonight because of school in the morning....summer is now officially over in my mind.

Last Weekend

In my humble opinion, you have not lived until you've fallen asleep in the outdoors next to an open fire.  Add some loons calling out over the lake and your son by your side and you've got it made.  In case you've never experienced it, you gotta trust me that it really gives you perspective.

Low's Lake in the Adk Park is one of my favorite places in the world.  Last weekend Austin and I repeated our 2005 trek there, and spent three amazing days...16+ miles by kayak, no homes, no lights, very few fellow travelers, the biggest loon population in the park, and untouched nature everywhere.  Amazing.
